Elliott in the King's Forest

[Elliott the Undying]

Elliott and Carly exit the city as the contract required and walk randomly into the woods.

As you continue walking through the forest you hear a voice coming from behind some trees. But it echo's around you so it's hard to figure out precisely where it is coming from. "I expect that you two are Elliott and Carly? I don't suspect that anyone other couple comes out here.""

[Elliott the Undying]

Elliott draws his swords as soon as he hears the voice and sticks the points into the ground so he can lean on them casually. He was very much on guard at this moment, if only to avoid a few arrow wounds if there were simply bandits lying in wait. They expected cocky and overconfident, so Elliott gave it to them. "Indeed sir, you requested the best warriors in Eveningstar to escort you, and they have arrived! I assume you are our contract. Where are we going?" Nobody honest would speak from hiding like this unless he was just overly cautious like Elliott. Then there was the question of how did this Bart know where they were going to be? Wait... did he say couple?

[Valor]

A small halfling walks out of the tree's he stands bout 2'5".  And wears simple travelling clothes but has a belt strapped around his waist that has several different coloured vials of potions and a glowing headband around his forehead that keeps his short brown hair pulled up.  He looks slightly on edge like he is about to run at a moments notice his light brown eyes seem to be watching your every move.  "My name is Barris.  The contract you accepted was signed Bart.  That's me."  He gets slightly more comfortable and stands up straight making himself seem as tall as he possibly can.  "We'll be heading to the Hullack forest.  I'm looking for a small wooden cabin in those woods.  Should be an easy mission for you.  At most just some bears perhaps."  He begins toward you then walks past you.  "We have no time to waste, I need to find it as soon as possible."

[Elliott the Undying]

Elliott follows him without speaking unless spoken to. He had learned early on not to ask questions of those who contracted him, but he sure had a few.

You continue walking through the forest and make it to the road just as the sun is about to set. Barris looks around the open area and drops his bag on the ground. "All right, I will assume that you brought your own sleeping arrangements so I will let you take care of yourselves. I also suspect that you will take turns keeping watch for the night?" He takes a small tent off of his bag and sets it up off to the side of the road. And also takes out a portable alchemy station and begins fiddling with some stuff. Taking advantage of what little light the day had left for him. He also spends a lot of attention focusing on a strange looking stone that has different markings on it. None of them look like they come from a language you have seen.

[Elliott the Undying]

As his client is setting up his tent, Elliott approaches him and clears his throat to get the man's attention. "Sir, I am charged with your protection. With your permission, I would invite you to stay with us in our arangements." Elliott pulls a small cube from his pocket, throws it a few yards away, and speaks the command word. The instant fortress with its adamantine walls springs up into a mighty tower. "This door is magically sealed, and will open only at my command. Therefore, the safest place for you will be on the ground floor. You may put your experiments on the roof for ventilation. Carly and I will sleep on the second floor and keep watch from the roof after dark. If you need help with anything, you need only to call and we will answer." Elliott starts to help the halfling move in to the tower if he doesn't object.

[Valor]

The halfling tumbles over backward as the giant castle springs up from nothing and covers the entire road. "What? What is? How? What!?" He walks up and examines the walls and the door. He clears his throat and wipes the look of excitement off of his face. "Yes, that will work quite nicely He accepts your Elliotts help of moving his stuff into the fortress. Keeping a emotionless face on the entire time pretending to not be impressed. Carly walks around the fortress and gets a feel for it again. "Yeah, I remember sleeping in one of these, I don't suppose you also have a flying carpet on you as well?" After Barris moves all of his items into the fortress he begins his alchemical work on the roof of the fortress. But gets distracted frequently looking off of the roof and over the trees.

[Elliott the Undying]

Elliott helps the halfling move his belongings in. "It's a shame that every one is made the same. I wish you could put in permanent beds or a manequin to put your armor on. With the amount of money you spent on this contract, you could afford one easily. Ask for an Instant Fortress next time you're in a magic item shop. If that's all you need, I'll be out of your way, sir." Elliott goes to the second floor and unrolls his bedroll, "No flying carpets for me. Walking keeps your legs strong. Though one might be a good idea for getting across rivers and navigating caves." Elliott removes his armor and practices his maneuvers outside until sundown. After practice, he eats some rations, readorns his armor, and takes first shift on watch for the night.

When Barris leaves to go to bed he leaves his alchemical supplies up on the roof. The stone illuminates and has a soft glow to it. Several of the tubes and beakers still contain liquid in them and they also illuminate through the dark. After an hour and a half he comes up to check on everything. After a few minutes, he yawns and goes back to bed. This continuously happens every hour and a half for the whole night. In the morning Carly greets Elliott.

(I assume that she would be the last one on watch)

"Good morning, sleep well?" she asks with a cocky smile on her face since she is an elf and doesn't need eight hours of sleep like humans do.

[Elliott the Undying]

Elliott straps his armor on. "Quite actually. It is amazing, you really should try it sometime." He commands his rations and everfull mug to fill and goes to check on Barris while nourishing his body.

[Valor]

Elliott finds Barris sitting on the roof still working with his stone and some different coloured liquids. He rubs his eyes with his wrists and yawns a bit. Then turns to look at you. "Aw yes good morning, are you ready to continue?" He begins packing up his things to leave.

[Elliott the Undying]

Elliott help him pack the simple things, letting him handle his own experiments, before packing his bedroll and putting it in his pocket. When they all exit the fortress, Elliott commands it to reduce, and he puts it in his pocket as well. "After you, sir."

[Valor]

Barris continues leading the way for a few hours. After a few hours of walking his stone starts glowing brighter and brighter in his hands. Eventually Barris stops walking and examines it for a few seconds. Then light begins shooting out of it and Barris throws it to the ground where it explodes.

Elliott dives behind a tree and draws his swords. 'That little shrimp,' he thinks, 'it was an ambush.'

Carly runs toward the stone attempting to pick it up and throw it before it explodes. But trips on her grab to grab it landing a few inches in front of it as it explodes. The smoke from the explosion is blue as a strange kind of glow to it. The smoke flys around for a moment but doesn't do anything aggressive. Barris takes a few steps back and enters into the fetal position.

[Elliott the Undying]

Elliott charges around the tree ready to dodge potions and kick some halfling hiney, but sees Barris on the ground curled up and a big cloud of smoke he really doesn't want to breathe. He looks around for Carly through the smoke.

You see Carly getting up off of the ground holding her head and pulling out her great-axe even though there is no noticeable enemy.  The smoke around you forms into a humanoid looking creature. (huge sized)
