(I assume that psionics are a form of magic, just not arcane magic)

The man hold his head a little as your negotiations continue. Every so often he just reaches up and scratches at it, either forgetting what he was going to say or changing his mind on a matter all together. Finally he says. "Alright, alright. How about 35,000 is that a better offer?"

Elliott smiles, "Yes, 35,000 sounds fantastic. I think I'll take that offer." He counts out 35,000 gold, puts it on the table, and takes the deed to the property. He exits the Governor's building and informs the architect of the location of the lot. Upon leaving that building, Elliot heads to the arena. "I think it's time to become known at the arena. I wonder if Carly is enjoying herself." Elliott signs himself up at the arena and waits to get called for a fight.

As you are waiting for your match a women walk up to you wearing a gladiator uniform but is clearly not a actual fighter. "A match just started, once it ends you should be next. I should take about 15..." A announcement comes over the arena's crowd. "We have a winner!"
"What!?" The doors open for the gladiators to return through. Carly walks through the door carrying a guy on her back. She looks around and see's you and Layla. "Hey, did you two get everything figured out for the building?"

Elliott is puzzled. He can't remember the last time she had a guy over her shoulder who wasn't the torso of a cut in half hill giant. "Yeah, yeah. We're all squared away to start building. Is he... still alive?"

Carly lets out a hearty laugh and pats the guy on the back. "Yeah, he's fine. Apparently they like to put the rookies together. This guy was shaking in his armor when he came out to fight. I just hit him in the gut with the handle of my axe and down he went." Carly lays him down on a bench over against a wall.

Elliott breathes deep and walks out into the arena. 'It's not about the victory, it's about the show.' He says to himself. He draws one sword and readies himself for whatever poor soul is sent against him.

A man walks out from the other side of the Colosseum. An announcer speaks loudly with much enthusiasm in his voice. "And for out next match! We have the unknown adventurer Elliott! And his opponent a man from the purple dragon military himself, Bosoph! Let the match begin!" Your opponent draws up a shield to his chest and hold his sword ready to fight.

Elliott flourishes his sword around outside to inside, behind his back, into his left hand around, then resting in his right hand and takes his stance with his sword in front of him. So his opponent was a military man. A professional. He's used to formations, not open combat. He's got his sword and shield up and ready before they were even near eachother. He's either scarred due to inexperience or most comfortable in a stance due to much experience. With his shield in tight, this guy was a defensive fighter. Probably from having to protect the men around him as well as himself. He's used to relying on others as much as himself for his own defense, and he's without them now. There would be different gaps, but there would still be gaps.

Elliott gives his opponent a cold fearless stare to undermine his confidence while sizing him up. He readies a standard attack action in the case of an attack.

The crowd watches silently as seconds pass with no action. But such was the case in new matches. The soldier loosens his knees a bit when he sees your stare. Then backs up a bit and flourishes his sword at you.

martial lore...um. He's a fighter, he uses a sword and shield. I don't know what martial lore really does.

The crowd stands stunned as you quickly knock the former solider to the ground in a matter of seconds. They sit quietly attempting to gather their thoughts about what just happened. Then one by one they all start clapping and cheering. "We have a Winner. Elliott!"

Elliott flourishes his blade elaborately before attaching it to his back. Elliott throws his hands up."Are you not entertained?" Elliott shouts to his fans. He soaks in the cheers for a moment more before dragging his opponent out of the arena. "Somebody get a medic for this soldier. I'm not sure if I killed him or not."

As you drag the man back into the waiting area for competitors some medics immediately run up and take the man, they put him on a stretcher next to the man Carly fought and they take them away. Carly walks up to you. "Impressive you beat a purple dragon. I bet you feel tough."
