Carly in Suzail

[Elliott the Undying]

The announcer comes over the Aerna as Carly's fight approaches. "Yesterday, you all saw the rookie Carly lose her first match in an embarrassing fist fight. Today she gets to seek redemption from that loss. Ladies and Gentlemen, being carried out into the center of the arena is a man convicted of an attempted assassination of the governor himself who has been sent for execution here in this fine arena. The guards who delivered him didn't even know what makes him so dangerous. Although I assure you, good people of Suzail, steps have been taken to ensure your safety during this battle. How will Carly handle this unknown assassin? We're about to find out." When she enters the arena, she sees some people exiting the arena and a heavy portcullis closes behind them. One closes behind her as well leaving no route of escape. In the center is a man tied to a chair in the same manner as the man earlier, but now there is a dark burlap bag over his head and shoulders. He is very still but is breathing noticeably.

(well this is interesting, and intriguing since I have already posted what she's doing after this fight)

Carly takes off her greataxe stands it up on the ground in front of her and leans on it. "Hey this isn't very fair, someone come take the bag off his head and untie him. I'd do it myself but that would just be embarrassing for him. At least let the guy die with some dignity."

(Yeah, I thought so too. That may be subject to change depending on what happens here since you had no idea I was doing this.)

Nobody enters the arena. If Carly approaches him to untie him, she notices that once she gets within 5 feet of him all of the sounds of the arena suddenly cease and everything is completely silent. The only thing she hears is a ringing in her ears where the crowd's noise was.

Carly finally approaches the man and her eyes widen when everything goes silent. This was a moment when she wouldn't mind having Layla to tell her what to do. But she was on her own. Logic told her to back up, but now she was interested in the man and it was an arena fight after all. She would still have to fight him. She walks around to the back of the chair and gets close enough to try and remove the bag from his head.

[Elliott the Undying]

The bag comes off with not effort. He's still gagged and blindfolded. From behind you see that his hands are manacled tightly in addition to the ropes around his shoulders and legs holding him to the chair.

Carly first removes the gag and blindfold and waits to see if anything happens. If not she will free his legs first, then his hands. then back up away from the chair and wait for him to stand up and be ready to fight.

When you remove the blindfold, he turns around to look at you. His gaze is calm and peaceful, and his irises are a dark yellow.  Once you remove the shackles, the sounds of the arena suddenly reach your ears again. The man remains seated, rubs his wrists, and speaks loudly over the crowd. His voice is even toned, powerful, and soothing. "Very greatly do I appreciate your honor to whatever degree that it may extend. Fear not my spell. Veritatem!" He begins casting a spell. Attack of opportunity if Carly wishes.

(So common is now a mixture of English and Latin?)

Carly stares into his eyes. She knows she may regret this but she's trained for these types of situations she prepares her mind encase it's one of those types of spells and waits for the results of his casting.

[Elliott the Undying]

(The spell had a verbal component.)

The air around him shimmers very slightly. "Tell me, woman of combat yet of honor. Is taking the part of the vulnerable a crime you consider punishable by death? For that is the true charge with which I am faced." He stands up. "That great weapon you carry, is it a tool of injustice? You are being used as a tool to commit the treachery of ignorant and foolish men. Will you willingly lie in the hands of the wicked and destroy me, or will you retain your honor and let me be free?" "Uggh, save the monologues for the theatre! Come on Carly, kill the criminal and let's be done with him!" The crowd chants for you to kill him.

Carly examines the crowd. "Listen I don't know your crimes and I don't care about them. But you are in the arena now. How you got here isn't really my concern but I came here to fight. Am I'm afraid that making people think I'm a coward is rather against the point of me being here." She thinks about what she should do in this situation. He could be deceiving her, or he could be a good guy. But Elliott would kill her if she disappointed the crowd.

[Elliott the Undying]

He nods in acknowledgement of your choice. "Then the extent of your honor is spent. So be it." He steps back, casts a spell, and a cloud of fog envelops both of you.

[Elliott the Undying]

This is just his initiative if Carly decides to attack.

He steps back into the fog and his dim figure disappears from Carly entirely. There is a sound similar to a short dubstep bass drop like powerful magic being negated.

Carly gets an annoyed look on her face and rests her axe on her shoulder. "I'm starting to really hate magic." She begins walking in one direction to escape the fog.

[Elliott the Undying]

There is another sound like powerful magic being negated and suddenly a large cloud appears over you and starts raining a large amount of hail on you and a large explosion of lightning happens in the fog. Then there is a powerful gust of wind which disperses the fog and all that's left is the man's torn clothes. "Wow! And the arena mages intervened! I guess they really didn't want that guy escaping. Interesting choice with the ice storm and lightning, guys. I would have gone with a fireball personally, but to each his own. Tough break for Carly. I guess she'll have to find her redeeming fight later. Next match!"

After the giant explosion of energy Carly simply turns and walks out ignoring the damage she took. After 2 thousand years of fighting to the death. She was pretty used to it by now. When she arrives back she waits for Elliott to arrive to talk to him and ends up arguing with some guy about how much food they could eat.

When she walks out, a fat guy with a warhammer says to her, "Hey there, little girl. How do you swing that big axe with such tiny arms? You on one of those elven only eat salad diets?"
