When you swing at the wolf, the sword hits the wolf's side and the wolf looks like it is sucked into a black hole and disappears with a loud "POP!" Elliott lowers his sword and rests his hands on it with a scowl. "Well, that certainly wasn't pretty. What do you need to improve?" Outlining room for improvement is a routine you're used to after every battle before going to the healing pad to keep students level headed and used to thinking clearly while in pain.

I gotta stay on my feet, and rely on my sword. My footwork wasn't up to performance-worthy, and I was too impatiant on trying to kill the wolf that I botched up several of my attacks. .....Im ashamed of my performance, Sorry teacher. Draxor says. If Elliot approves he goes to heal and get a sip of water

"Losing your footing isn't a huge deal. Leaving yourself at a tactical disadvantage like that for the rest of the fight was stupid and could have gotten you killed out on a contract. I didn't expect you to deliver a couple high quality strikes from the ground like that, but all that flailing on the ground was embarrassing to watch. Pick yourself up. Move forward. Learn from it, and don't let it happen again. Heal up and go back to training. Next contract that comes in is yours." Elliott waves his hand toward the healing pad and climbs the ladder to observe everyone training from the wall.

A local business owner comes in saying he's received threats and would like 24 hour protection on his property. The clerk works out a price with him for 2 12 hour shifts with 2 mercs per shift. Your cut of the upfront cost is 100 gold, and you start tonight from 8 PM - 8 AM. The clerk suggests you take a nap before staying up all night on watch and provides you with masterwork scale mail and a masterwork bastard sword.

When the clerk talks to Draxor, Draxor takes his offer up immediatly takes a nap till bout 5pm, get a quick meal from the cafeteria, and train for a hour. I then go into town to buy a water flask with the 100 gold.

(I don't know if you're familiar with the goods and services list, so here's a list of all the stuff you may be interested in: http://www.d20srd.org/srd/equipment/goodsAndServices.htm . Also, do you want to keep track of silver and copper coins, or use half golds?)
While you're training after dinner, a fellow student named Aeryn approaches you and starts running Emerald Razor strikes on a dummy. He says he's been paired with you on the night shift and never thought that he'd ever hold 100 gold when he was growing up the son of an iron foundry worker. You discuss how you're going to guard the shop while you train.
The flask costs virtually nothing (3 copper or 1 half-gold), anything else you'd like to do before you show up for your first shift?
When you show up, the owner is waiting with keys and asks if you'd like to be locked inside or guard from the outside and informs you that the windows can be used to get out if you choose to be inside. He informs you there's the front entrance to the shop and a back door that leads to an alley. After you make your choice, Aeryn asks if you'd like to take the first 6 hours or the second 6 hours on watch.

I'll use half gold, and the link isnt working. Unless their is anything intresting to buy, Draxor would train more and get something to eat before he leaves. When Draxor arrives and when the owner askes us to be locked inside or outside, I get Aeryon's opinion, but Draxor is swaying to being locked inside.
(is the inside of the shop very open, or is is very cramped. If there would be fighting I wouldn't want to destroy any of his merchandise)

Aeryn thinks that staying outside would be best to deter anyone trying to steal something, but staying inside would be best to catch someone in the act. He thinks that it would be more exciting to catch someone than stand for 12 hours and look scary. The shop is a tailoring shop, and the owner says the racks can be moved around if you want to clear a space. Once the shop owner locks you in and goes home, Aeryn asks, "First watch or second?"

When he was at the store, he also bought a 10-foot poll. Ill take first watch, I am still wide awake. Draxor says. As Aeryn takes a nap or something, I arrange the racks so I can get an open view of the two doors and I stand guard behind the first door, and stare at the back door and occasionally look at the windows

Aeryn lies down and closes his eyes. "I brought my trainer too, so zap me if there's trouble." Around 1:00 you hear a scratching sound from the back door.

Aeryn's body convulses sharply and he makes a weird noise. "Okay, bad idea. Don't zap me awake next time." You try to open the door, but it's locked. There is a dull cracking sound like splitting wood, but the door stays closed this round. A couple seconds later there is another splitting sound, and a couple seconds after that the door swings open slightly. You hear a voice whisper, "Damn, that was louder than I thought."

I do a little wave for Aeryn to come over and I use martial lore as soon as I can see the thief. Martial Lore +7(13) Initiation D20+6(14)

Aeryn hides on the other side of the counter with sword out. The thief slowly pushes the door open and you see a cloaked figure only about 3 feet tall with a metal mask over his face. "Alright, now to find-" He walks in and jumps when he sees you towering over him. "Shit!" He tries to hit you in the kneecap with the crowbar he's holding, but he misses.

I attempt to grapple him and try to make him talk. If he doesn't want to stop fighting and talk, I'll slash him with my sword while grappling. Hey calm down, If you stop it, we'll put down our weapons. We can talk this through. No one needs to get hurt.

(3.5 grapple rules are a bit complicated. Such as starting a grapple provoking an attack of opportunity, requiring a touch attack to grab them first, and only being able to use certain weapons in a grapple. If the person's attack of opportunity hits you, the grapple attempt automatically fails.)
When you reach out to grab him, he whacks your hand away for 4 damage. "Whoa, no thanks!" The swing lifts his cloak enough to reveal two rapiers at his sides. He holds the crowbar defensively in front of him with one hand, and with your martial lore check, you can determine that the thief is in the stance of clarity, a level 1 Diamond Mind stance. "Okay, you're a talker? This isn't your store. What are you doing here?" Aeryn hops the counter and listens to the conversation with his sword ready.

Damage: +2 (4)
Grapple: +15
Aeryn's jump: +7 (25)

We've been hired to protect this store, and you are trying to steal from here I take it? Sure you might take me down, but my buddy would finish you off, so why don't you leave and forget about robbing this store? Draxor says If he tries swiping I will use Emerald Razor in a 1handed Bsword D20 +6(12) D10+2(11) D6 (1) (12 dmg if hit)
