Mysterio falls out of his invisibility onto the ground with three new slash marks across his torso. The half orcs come out to claim his body and the crowd cheers louder then they did when you defeated the most annoying man in the arena. "He has done it! Elliott the undying has taken down one of the Arena's best a champion and earned his ranking! He could even qualify for a chance to become the grand champion! Would you love to see that ladies and gentlemen?!" The crowd starts chanting for you to take on the grand champion next.

[Elliott the Undying]

Elliott attaches his swords to his back and showboats for a few minutes reveling in his new victory. That gladiator had made Elliott nervous and had the potential to defeat him. Elliott knew he could defeat the grandmaster, and that was enough for him. Besides, he wanted to focus on training and not staving off challengers every other day. Master was enough for him. After Elliott is finished showboating and working the crowd, he takes out a handful of gold (10) and tries to throw it into the audience. He is surprised that it bounces back out of midair and notes that there's some kind of invisible barrier between the combat floor and the audience. He leaves the gold on the floor, collects the wage for the fight, and returns to the guild hall. He sees Carly working a scrawny sickly looking lad with rocks while smiling cruelly at him. "Who's this, Carly?"

Carly looks away from the recruit over to Elliott. "Some new recruit that Layla brought, I think he told me his name it was...uh...Hey kid what's your name again?"

[Corvus Nox]

Panting and sweating under the weight of the rock, the boy replies, "Corvus ma'am" and adds under his breath, "and I'm not sickly, just pale...."

[Elliott the Undying]

Elliott looks at the size of the rock he just lifted and measures up Corvus' frame and build. "Tell me, Corvus. Why did you come to my academy?"

[Corvus Nox]

"Sir, I don't have a clue. One minute I am a slave, the next I was teleported here to this terrifying woman lifting rocks."

[Elliott the Undying]

"Layla?" "Who else?" Elliott laughs heartily and gestures for you to sit down on a rock. "Alright, buddy. Well, you've found yourself in a Warblade academy. Specifically the academy of Elliott the Undying. That's me. I'll have a chat with the lady who teleported you here if you don't want to stay. First though, do you have any interest in learning the way of the sword?"

[Corvus Nox]

"Wait... you're telling me that not only am I not a slave anymore, but you're going to teach me to fight? Where do I sign up and how much is it going to cost me?!" Corvus looks both pleadingly and hopefully at this strange man who offers him all he's ever wanted. He knows it must be to good to be true, but if this behemoth of a man will teach him to fight, he might stand a chance at escaping.

(this is only assuming that he stopped lifting rocks to have the conversation)

Carly gives Corvus a cold stair. "Hey keep lifting those rocks, you need to become stronger before you can learn how to fight!"

[Corvus Nox]

Corvus gives a slightly boyish yelp and begins to lift the rocks again at double speed.

[Elliott the Undying]

Elliott takes his swords off his back and leans them against a wall. He goes beside the biggest rock (up to 700 lbs just over 4 cubic feet of granite) and shows Corvus proper lifting. "Here, bud. Just watch for a second. If you wreck your spine, it won't matter how strong you are. Move to a smaller rock if you have to. Starting heavy and moving lighter as you tire out improves your explosive strength and endurance at the same time. Keep your back in a neutral position as much as you can. If you cheat and put strain on the bones instead of the muscles, you won't be able to get out of bed without a cleric. If you can't lift it, you can't lift it. Get something lighter. That's part of growing stronger." Elliott heaves the rock to his lap in a crouch, he stands and heaves himself to a standing position with his hands under the rock while it sits on his chest. With a grunt, he pushes upward and drops his stance low to get his arms extended then finishes the lift like an overhead squat. "There. Try it like that. I'm going to go take off my armor if I'm going to be lifting heavy like this. Maybe we can go running or something if no one else shows up today. We'll talk business after we're done here. How's a workout and a free meal sound, kid?"

[Corvus Nox]

Facinated by the new techinque, Corvus responds, "Yes sir! Right away sir!" He sets down his rock and quickly scurries over to another one slightly smaller, but still bigger than he should in order to try and impress his new mentor.

[Elliott the Undying]

Sir? ... Sir was new. Poor kid must've been a slave too long. "Why don't you give it a try, Carly?" Elliott winks at her and goes to put his armor and one sword on the rack in his room. When he gets back down, he runs a high weight low rep workout for half an hour then takes Carly and the new kid on a run around the arena a few times. He knew Carly could keep up, so he sets a brisk pace to see just how determined the new blood was to hold his own. He never lets the new kid fall more than 20-30 feet behind though.

[Corvus Nox]

First rocks, now running.  This man had a strange method of training, but even Corvus couldn't deny the obvious results.  So he decided he would do his best to keep up.  Maybe he could learn from this man.  Maybe he could fight!  And maybe... maybe one day he could make it home to his father and sister...

"Blast" Corvus mutters to himself as his stumbles a little. When he looks up he realizes that he still isn't any farther behind.  This old man is holding back on me! He's taking pity on me! I won't have it!  He knows he heals quickly so at the expense of his health he pushes even harder.

Loses two hit points.

He doesn't even realize he's pushed past his limit when he falls flat on his face and passes out.

[Elliott the Undying]

People exclaim when the new kid looses it. Elliott turns around at the sound to see a prostrate recruit. "What did you have him doing before I got back?" "A light warm up like you said! It's not my fault you didn't teach him 'proper running technique.' Maybe you should touch on that later Master Elliott." He throws the still breathing body over his shoulder and jogs the rest of the way back to the guild.

After a couple minutes, Elliott has to slow down to a walk to make it back to the guild on his own 2 feet. He lays the new kid down on the healing pad and he's instantly revived (heals 90 health and 180 non-lethal). "Welcome back, bud. You know you're not a slave anymore, right?" He walks over to the everful basin, takes a drink, and washes the dried sweat from his face.

The weight of the recruit on Elliott's back throws him off balance.  And he falls over onto the ground.  Carly takes the boy and puts him over her shoulders.  "That's alright Elliott you rest, I'll take it from here."
