You remember that Aunt Doreen said that Devils are necessary to form Faustian Pacts. You know that any devil above imp rank can make one. She also said something about contacting a Harvester Devil specifically to form the pact for you because humans don't have the power. You remember that she was rushing to find something as you were leaving. Mayhaps it was a harvester devil to help you make a pact?

The man leans on his cane and smiles like he knows something that you don't. "She told me that you two needed a friend to get where you needed to go." He hobbles over, takes your other arm, and speaks quietly. "You two are mourning kids who just got a glimmer of hope, and I'm a witness to your parents' deaths. I'll find a target and negotiate the contract. You two just need to get me in there alone for two minutes." He adjusts his floppy hat before hobbling along using your arm and his cane.

You get to the jail. The stone building is guarded sparsely for a jail, but the guards still have a significant presence. As you three walk up, a guard holds out his palm and says. "What's your business at the jail?"
Andra says, "We found a witness to our parents' murder, and we were hoping we'd be able to check the jails to see if any of your prisoners match the description."

The guard puts his hand down and tucks his thumb into his belt. "I'm sorry for your loss. How long ago did it happen?"
"Just over a month."
"And your witness is just now coming forward?"
"He was afraid it was a guild job. Still is. If we must discuss, we'd prefer to be inside and away from stray ears."

(The context of the statement is recognized by the guild, and everything said during this whole encounter is going to be peppered with deception, so run bluff checks if you say anything within the realm of the deception. That particular statement would be assisting her already successful bluff check I guess.)

The guard nods his head and gestures to the large doors, "If a murderer can be brought to justice by this man's witness, then by all means go inside."
"Thank you, sir. You are kind." You three walk into the entrance room where three guards play a game of dice. One of them stands up quickly. "Greetings. Um... What's your business in the jail?"
Andra responds coldly and impatiently, "If you remember the murders of the Alexanders a month or two ago, a witness has come forward. We're checking the jails for a suspect. He's afraid of the assassins, so he doesn't want to risk being seen at a jail. Could we please get access to the cells to see if he can identify one?"

The guard scratches the back of his head. "Yeah, I'm sure that'd be alright." A guard at the table hits him in the side. "I mean. Yes, Ma'am. I'll get the doors for you." He takes a key ring from a wall and opens a barred door into a short hallway with two more barred doors. After the last one opens, there is a passage with hallways off of each side every 15 feet or so. You hear chains and a few people shouting in malice and a few people shouting in madness. The Harvester lets go of your and Andra's shoulders. He speaks in a much more ragged voice than before and leans very heavily on his cane. "I believe I should be fine from here. You kids go back and play your game. It may take a while to look at them all, and I'm sure you don't want to sit around while an old man jogs his tired memory." Andra puts a hand on his shoulder "Are you sure? You have such a hard time walking as it is." "Yes, yes, child. I'm no stranger to sitting upon the floor when I'm tired. Go play."

You almost believe it too. The guard shrugs. "Don't get too close to the bars. Some of these guys will grab you just for the opportunity to kill someone else. Come on, if he's going to take forever, we can play. Nothing exciting happens around here anyway." He leaves the barred doors open behind him and sits at the table. "Alright guys, wanna teach them?" "Hmmph. I guess. Here's the deal. We've got two dice, everybody rolls. The closest person to 7 gets the pot. If you tie, whoever rolled the red die higher wins. We can start low. Does a 2 gold ante sound fair?" Andra takes out her pouch. "I could play a couple rounds at 2 gold. You in Phinneas?"

They all put 2 gold on the table and take a roll of the dice. (The red die is the important one, and it's the first the dice roller rolls.)

Andra smiles slyly as she takes 2 gold out of her previous winnings and sets it on the table.
"Erm... and girl."
They all roll. You win the 10 gold pot.
"Awww, dang. Leave it to the citizens to take the city's hard earned gold."
"I'm liking having more players. Anybody want to up the pot? Say 4 each?"
Andra huffs dramatically and says playfully, "Of course you'd want to up the pot after we've already done our winning."
The guard looks at her innocently, "You have the same odds of winning this one as the last two."
Andra smiles, "That is true, but we might be here a while and I don't know how long I could play on 4 gold a round. Phinneas?"
