Valor thinks for a moment. "Alright, since you like to grapple with your opponents. This kick will allow you to close gaps easier and allow you to do so." He reaches his leg up in a chambered position and hooks his foot around tapping the base of it on Aeryn's face. "That's a hook kick." He preforms it a few more times in fast motion and slow motion so Aeryn can see how it works. "Alright, give it a try."

Aeryn stretches out his legs for a minute or two and takes a neutral 45 stance. He runs the motion a few times, "Alright, hold out your hand." Aeryn whips his leg up and hits your hand solidly. "Yeah, I could see getting my heel behind someone's head and pulling them in like that." He hits your hand a few more times, and halflings start watching you as they go about their jobs.

Valor pays no attention to the people watching them. "Alright, it looks like your getting the hang of it pretty quick. Was there anything specific you wanted to show me?"

Aeryn says, "Oh, well I could just show you the basic positions. There's mount, guard, and side control." He shows you how mount is when one is lying down and the other is straddling his chest. Guard is when one is lying down and the other is between the prone one's legs. Side control is when one is lying down, and the other is lying down on top with neither individual's legs engaged with the opponent and they're both facing eachother. "Alright, got it? I can show you sweeps when your chest isn't melted anymore."

Valor stands up with heavy breathing from being sat and lied on so much. "What? I'm fine, come on show me some sweeps." He tries to make himself look as convincingly fine as possible but can't hide the heavy breathing and weak stance he was standing in.

Aeryn looks at you uneasily. "Alright, you know your limits better than I do." As he teaches, he sort of gets excited and rushes through. He shows you when somebody mounts you how to trap both limbs on a side and bridge to roll over into guard. From there he shows you how to set up your hips and to dig your elbows into a pressure point on the inside of the knee to break their guard. From there, you throw one of their legs over your head and either stand up or take side control and mount from there. "Got it? We could probably make a drill out of it all, mounted rolls to guarded which breaks to side control which takes mount which is rolled to guard which is broken for side controlled and then mounted and then repeats. Wanna try it?"

"Sure we'll try that." Valor runs through the drills with him several times and practising kicking manoeuvres until dinner starts.

After running the sweeps drill twice, Aeryn is sick of rolling on the hard wood, so you mostly do kicking. Dinner is leftover pork that's been reseasoned. With it is cheesy buttered toast, salad with a tangy red dressing, and applesauce with water to drink. A couple of the little halfling kids come up to you as the adults get up to dance. They're loud and cheerfully demand, "Teach us to fight too!" Aeryn looks at you sort of uncomfortably and responds, "You'll have to ask your parents and Therella first. Where is Therella anyway?"

Valor digs into his food very fast and speaks in between bites. "She's probably off yelling at someone again, she's good at that. And we can teach the kids they won't get hurt." Valor responds with a mischievous smile to Aeryn's uncomfortable look. Valor takes a sip from his water. He stares at the mug it's in for a few seconds then turns to the kids. "Hey kids, do you know where this water comes from?"

Aeryn still looks unsure, but he keeps eating and thinks about your question. The kids think about it, and one yells out, "It's from the kitchen!" The others agree loudly. Aeryn says, "Yeah, they've probably got a well back there. Or maybe they get it from the lake. No use digging a well if the lake is right there. Sure tastes good though. Better than the ale in Waymoot." He takes a swig and keeps eating.

When Valor finishes eating he stands up and looks at Aeryn. "We should find Therella, I have some questions for her, and I feel like you do too." He takes his plate to the designated area to drop it off then begins asking people if they know where Therella is.

Nobody seems to think that it's a big deal that Therella's gone. She usually leaves for a couple days at a time when she goes to talk to someone political. This one was a local city politician, she can be gone for a week or more if she's petitioning a regional politician. Most of them agree that you should dance to get your mind off things, but Aeryn goes back for more applesauce and pork instead.

Valor finds a cute girl and takes her to the dance floor. But it doesn't clear his mind. He still has several questions to ask Therella. But if that couldn't be accomplished now. Then there was nothing wrong with dancing it off. After a few dances he goes to sit beside Aeryn. "Hey, you should go dance, you might meet a cute girl."

You find the same cute girl you danced with last time. The dances are all high energy group dances like line dancing. There are a few halfling folk songs without choreographed dances and everybody stomps the floor and kicks their feet, but most songs already have a dance mapped out to go along with them. The halflings who have been dancing these dances for years try their best to teach you on the fly, but most get distracted by their own fun. When you go back Aeryn has finished the food and is sitting there observing the dancers. "I'm busy thinking about today. You gave me a lot of stuff to mull over, and I want to be in a prepared place when we return to the arena tomorrow. I wish I could be happy and carefree like them, but... thanks." He sighs, gets up, and walks up to the room.

Valor follows him to the room and closes the door behind them. "Hey, you wanna talk about it?" Valor sits on the bed and stares at him with a worried and slightly confused look.

Aeryn lies on the bed facing you, "Why did we decide come to this city and fight in the arena? Was it to get better at fighting, to make money, to get famous? Why was it?"

Valor goes over to the window and looks out it for a few seconds before giving a response. "We've been with each other for awhile. But I still can't tell you why you do things. I do want to get better at fighting, to become the worlds best martial artist. I don't know if I could ever achieve that dream, but it'll be fun to try." He quickly turns back around to Aeryn with a large smile on his face.

Aeryn rolls over to face you. His voice sounds strained and frustrated. "Yeah, but who needs to know that you're the best? Is you knowing that you've achieved greatness enough, or does the world need to know how great you are for you to feel that it's true?" He sits up and looks at you painfully. "I came here because I was following a friend. Life sucked in Waymoot, and I thought that anywhere would have been better than there. Come on Valor, I almost DIED in front of thousands of people at the hands of a goblin to the sound of thunderous applause. And you almost died against the gnomes. I know. I sat there trapped behind my eyes as he shot you with the ice crap. Why are we fighting to the death after just a couple weeks of training?"

Valor sits in silence for a few seconds thinking about what Aeryn said. "Well, to answer your first question, I don't really care if anyone knows, or if anyone accepts it or agree's with me. I'll just keep striving to be the best. Popularity is over-rated anyway. But I would never ask you to fight for me. I don't really have many other options though, the arena gives me a chance to fight and get the money I need to live on. What else is there?"

Aeryn turns over. "I don't know. The money is good in the arena. Maybe if there was a monastery of Yondallan monks somewhere we could join them. If there was one, I'm sure it would be in Collinwood." He turns back to you. "And what about the halflings here in Suzail? Apparently they were all hopeless before we got here, and now they're all happy and celebrating life like you and I aren't about to die every time we're in the arena. Therella sends us to the arena to make some kind of political statement for halflings and then disappears for a couple days. Something's off and very suspicious about her. She's nice and helpful, but she's up to something with her secret healing spells. I don't even know why I feel anxious about somebody who heals just because it's in secret. Maybe it's because I'm used to Waymoot politicians always screwing over the people they're in charge of. That's what I'll say for now until I can talk to her again."

Valor stares at the closed door and speaks in a hushed voice. "I know what you mean, something is just weird about her and the whole situation. I'll stand by my philosophy that sometimes it's better to hide your powers. But there's something else about her. I don't know what, but there's something. Of course even if we ask her she'll probably deny it. So we need to figure it out another way."

Valor raises an eyebrow at the closed door. "What would we be up too? and they're doing better then they were. But I'm still feeling it." Valor stands up and walks over to the door opening it up.
