Aeryn stirs and opens his eyes. When he sees that you're awake, he sighs in relief. "Whew. I'm fine. They just hit me with a damned knockout spell. 'Oh yeah, let's fight fair. We're just going to knock you out and fucking double team your friend here, but you guys have to fight fair.' My ass. By the time I woke up, you were already out. I'm perfectly fine! But we lost to a magical cheap shot." He gets increasingly angry as he talks. "I'm glad I stabbed his sister. Asses both of them. We didn't stand a chance. He probably shot you while you were down, didn't he?"

Valor thinks back to the battle. "Yeah, that's exactly what he did. Damn mages, hiding behind their magic." He falls back down onto his mat and groans a bit. "I need a healer."

"I don't know when the clerics will get to you. Maybe a couple days. Higher rank gladiators get priority because they're apparently more important than us. I think we need some time off. Maybe spend a couple days in the Sector. Speaking of them, these flowers are from some of them. Maybe there's a medic there that will look after you. Maybe Therella will heal you in secret again. If I could heal people, I'd be doing it every day all the time to help people and not hiding it behind handshakes. What's up with that, huh?"

(What specifically is Valor's frustration directed toward? Losing? Unfairness? Falling for a trap? Just going along with Aeryn's anger? Frustrated with himself for not being good enough or the gnomes for being tricky or Aeryn for getting knocked out so soon? The "why" is often more important than the "what." Once again, you don't have to post it, but write it somewhere at least.)

Valor stares at the ceiling and breathes slowly as he responds. "People won't leave you alone when you have something they could use. Sometimes it's better if everyone thinks you're powerless." He turns his head so that he's looking at Aeryn. "But I would be really happy if she could make my chest stop burning." He gives a joking smile and stands up off his mat. "In any case, I don't think I can fight for awhile in this condition. So you want to head back to the sector?"

Aeryn thinks about what you say. "Yeah, I guess, but she's already offering her building to them, and they seem to treat her just fine for it. You'd think people would take advantage of that more than healing especially when there's always clerics of some deity running around." You stand up. "Yeah, we should go back. Sucks that we're supposed to be some kind of halfling heroes, and we come back beaten after one fight." Aeryn stops and gets the pay for the fight. You get 40 gold each then you both walk to the Sector. Judging from how high the sun is, you were out for an hour or two. On walking in, halflings are almost instantly surrounding you asking what happened and if they can help you. Aeryn asks for Therella, and the halflings tell him that she's out talking to an advisor of the governor.

Valor scratches the back of his head. "Thank's everyone, but I don't think we really need anything special. We'll just wait for Therella to get back. Until then I need to rest and heal up." He walks off to his room.

Aeryn comes in and jumps into the bed. A few minutes later, someone walks in with a large satchel. "Hi there, big guy. My name's Foley, and I'm kind of the doctor around here. Would you mind if I took care of you?"

Valor looks up at him. "I would love for you to take care of me." He sits up in he bed and waits for him to do whatever it is that old timely doctors do.

Foley sits down beside you and opens up his satchel. "Interesting to see an area affected with third degree burns and acute frostbite. The damage that mages can do is staggering. The frostbite will need to heal on its own, but I can help dress the burn and make sure it doesn't get infected." He puts an antiseptic on the burn (it stings, but only on the edges of the burn) and wraps your torso in linen. "That should do it. If you just lie down and rest, dinner will be served in a few hours. Rumor has it that we're actually not having beef tonight." He winks at you with an excited and childish smile, packs his things, and walks out of the room.

Valor lays back down on the bed and tries to go to sleep but his thoughts keep him awake. along with the fact that he wasn't actually tired. His first thought was wrapped around what they would be having for dinner tonight, Therella said they couldn't get chicken. But maybe something changed, he would really like some chicken that was some good food. But soon his thought faded back to the arena. He turns to Aeryn. "So, how do you think we can do this? If we keep having to take days off due to injuries we won't have the money to live here. But if we fight injured we could die, and that goes against my life expectancy." He sits in silence for a few moments taking deep breathes. "I guess the only option is to get better."

Aeryn doesn't open his eyes. "I was wondering the same thing. Maybe we should only do one fight a day. There's no way we're going to make less than 10 gold every fight. Goodness, they gave us 40 apiece just for losing!"

Valor smiles. "Well gold is gold. However let's try not to lose to much. That kind of defeats the purpose for me." He rolls over onto his side and goes to sleep until dinner is ready.

Aeryn nudges you awake. "I hear music. I think that means that dinner is ready." Dinner is a roasted boar, cornbread, and boiled apples, and the drink is the sweet apple water.

Valor walks down stairs to the dining hall and takes place in the festivities of eating dinner! Being surrounded by halflings was wonderful. At least they knew how to have a good time. Valor enjoys the food with a smile and listens to the stories of the others. It wasn't chicken but it was still some really good food.

You and Aeryn enjoy the pork. One person tells a story about a snake that was in the basement one time and crawled under a door that no one could get open. Later, Therella walked out of the basement with the same snake, but it was headless. She had a fit about there being a snake and "darn near had a heart attack.". Just about everybody laughs at the storyteller's impression of her. Some people are skeptical about the story, but Therella isn't there to verify it. The band plays and there is dancing again. Foley checks on you again before bed, and you sleep through the night gaining back 6 hp.

The next morning Valor is feeling much better then he did the day before. He throws his arm onto Aeryn's face to wake him up. "Hey, you ready for breakfast?" He gets out of bed and goes downstairs to eat.

Aeryn grunts, "Nggh. More sleep." He tries to grab your arm and keep you in the bed, but he's too sleepy to get you. He joins you eating a couple minutes after you go down. Breakfast is a thin slice of cold ham left over from the night before, a crunchy biscuit, a slice of goat cheese, and cold water. The water here is always good with a very alive flavor. As you're eating, Aeryn asks, "Hey, how would you feel if we tutored each other?"

Valor enjoys his breakfast but began realizing that dinner was always much better. Which was kind of sad since he really enjoyed breakfast foods. "Tutor each other how? Like just sparing with each other?"

Aeryn chews his bread. "Yeah, some of that, but like I'm a good wrestler, and you're a good kicker and striker. What if I taught you to wrestle and you taught me to strike better? With the best of both worlds in both of us, we'd basically be unstoppable, right?"

Aeryn stands up too and heads to the dance area, "Well, nobody is going to need the dance area until tonight. Maybe we can spend our days training there. Although wrestling on the wood may be... Uncomfortable. Maybe we could get a big mat somewhere. Anyway, the Glory Everlasting monks showed us punching and a few takedowns. Show me a good solid kick."
